Killyon Senior team played Ratoath on Saturday in Trim in the opening round of the the senior hurling championship.

The game got off to a good start in the first half with David Raleigh scoring 3 points, Jake Ryan 1 point, Niall Smullen 2 point, Shane Clarke 1 point and Mikey Mullens 4 points (3 from free’s).  While Ratoath scored 5 points which unfortunately were all from free’s and one goal.  This left Killyon leading at half time 11 points to 1 – 5.

The second half Ratoath got off to a quick start, scoring a number of points with no reply from Killyon.  Then Mikey Mullen scored a goal along with 2 points but was not enough to close the gap. Killyon losing by 3.

Killyon Juniors got their Championship campaign off to a better start.  They played St Patricks on Sunday morning in Killyon. The game was to be very tight throughout the match.  In the first half Calvin Ryan scored 2 points, Ray Massey 4 points, Justin Coyne 2 points, A Mc Elhinney 1 point and Martin Keegan 1 point. This left half time score Killyon 10 points to St Pats 11 points.

The second half continued in the same fashion neither sides getting a steady lead. Calvin Ryan got a goal and 5 points, and Justin 2 points while St Pats scored 1 goal and 5 points.

This left the final score Killyon 1-17 St Pats 1-16.
